Uncertainty marks the next Indian crop

The next sugarcane crop in India for 2012/2013 is a great unknown to the world. This is because in three years, two of them were of high and productivity and one of loss in the country.

Last year, India indicated that sugar production could jump from 18.8 million tons to 25.5 million tonnes in the current crop.

According Abinash Verma, director general of the Association of Indian Sugar Mills, production can be 5% higher or lower than the previous harvest.
