The ASC – American Sugar Coalition presented a new antidumping petition against the Mexican sugar industry, on Wednesday, April 16, to the Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission, according to release issued by McGuireWoods LLP , one of the world’s largest law firms. The new complaint alleges that imports of raw and refined, dry or liquid, colored or flavored sugar, and  products with sugar in their formula, from Mexico, violate the laws of free trade between the two countries.
At the time, the sugar in Mexico is not subject to tax, and taxes will not be charged until the Commission stipulates that imports are causing injury to the producers in the United States by illegal practices or just for lack of tribute. The date for any determination in this case is scheduled for September.
