Traders in Zimbabwe accused Uganda of re-packing and resell their sugar in order to export them to South Sudan, as a “product of Uganda,” according to the Daily Monitor of Uganda. The Ugandan authorities, however, rejected the allegations.
Zimbabwe is one of the largest sugar producers in Africa, with an annual capacity of 500 thousand tons. Last year, Kenya accused Uganda of putting illegal sugar below the market price in its market,  from Mauritius and repackaged as a product of Uganda.
