Thailand sugar production can be reduced

Thailand , considered the second country in the ranking of export of sugar, after Brazil , may also have production reduced because of El Niño , according Agrimoney .
The U.S. Department of Agriculture , in its first estimates for the production of Thai sugar crop for 2014/15 , provides little more than 10 million tons, a drop of about 1 million tonnes compared to the previous harvest . The forecast decline reflects an anticipation of inclement weather caused by El Niño . In addition to a planned reduction of about 4 % in the production of cane sugar, the average extraction rate of sugar will drop to about 100 pounds per ton of cane , compared with 109 pounds in the 2013/14 harvest.
