After being completed 160 days of the crop, sugar production in Mexico fell 10.9% from the previous cycle.
In the current crop (14/15), the 52 sugar factory, produced 235,5 million tons from 261.4 million tons in the crop 13/14.
The information is the Department of Agriculture (SAGARPA) of the Mexican government.
The lower sugar production reflects the lower harvest. There are 30.5 million hectares in production in 14/15, against 33.5 million hectares in the previous cycle.
With smaller area, the supply of sugar cane also fell: from 1.9 billion tons in 14/15 to 2.2 billion tons in the cycle 13/14.
