Raizen vice-president believes the sector will improve in coming years

Pedro Mizutani, vice president of Ethanol, Sugar and Bioenergy Raizen believes that the next harvest will be better for the sugarcane industry. With over 20 years experience in the segment, Mizutani cites the second generation ethanol as a good alternative. “The best companies have invested in structured alternatives to increase production through new technologies, whether new varieties of sugarcane, or the second generation ethanol, which is a great hope.”

According to him, we must greatly increase ethanol production, and for this, changes are needed. “The goal is to increase the supply of fuel ethanol per hectare, through a variety of sugarcane more productive by GM or through the processing of biomass from sugar cane, bagasse and straw.”
