Raizen intends to reach 1 million hectares

Raizen, a company formed by the joint venture between Shell and Cosan, intends to increase from 700,000 hectares to 1 million hectares of production and reach 100 million tons of cane sugar projected by 2015. Director of Business Development Company, Mark Lyra, said yesterday during the International Forum of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), the industry uses only 2.4% of arable area of the country and defended the growth potential of ethanol production.He also stressed the importance of new investments to expand the productivity of sugarcane in Brazil
