According to research firm commodity Hightower Report, ethanol production in the United States during the week ended on Nov. 29 , reached 913,000 barrels per year. That’s down 1.51 % from the previous week and 9:34 % increase over the same period last year . The total ethanol production for the week was 6.391 million barrels . Inventories until November 29 were 15.124 million barrels . This means an increase of 0.68 % from the previous week and fall of 21.80 % in the same period of 2012. Corn used in ethanol production , last week was 95.87 million bushels ( 2,435 million tons ) . At the annual corn crop for ethanol production accumulated was 1.2 billion bushels ( 30 million tons ) . The use of grain needs to reach 94 285 million bushels ( 2,394 million tons ) per week to be in accordance with the standards of the annual U.S. Department of Agriculture – USDA , estimated at 4.9 billion bushels ( 124 million tons ) .
