Mexico’s sugar production up to 5.10 mln tons

MEXICO CITY – Mexico has produced 5.10 million tonnes of sugar so far this cycle 2010/11, 9.4 percent over the same period of the previous harvest, said Tuesday the National Union of Cañeros in its weekly report.

The industry expects the country’s sugarcane crop in Latin America to recover in the current harvest to 5.3 million tonnes, after two cycles of poor performance by bad weather.
