Less sugar beet in the USA in 2014


The USDA U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a report released on Tuesday, the April1, that U.S. producers of beet for sugar and ethanol, intend to plant less in 2014 crop. The decision was based on the lower profitability of production, which previously had been estimated in 2013, causing losses to growers in information for the U.S. Food Business News.
The area intended for planting was estimated at 1,154,600 acres, down 43,500 acres, or about 4% of the 1,198,100 hectares in 2013.
