Indonesian sugar imports pegged to decline by 14%

Sugar imports by Indonesia will slip 14% this year as drier weather conditions boost domestic output, a plantation industry official said on Thursday.

Total sugar imports will be 2.37m tonnes in 2012, down from 2.76m tonnes last year, Colosewoko, vice secretary general a t the Indonesian Federation of Plantation Companies (GPPI), which has 300 affiliates, told Reuters.
