French companies want to invest in Egypt’s sugar industry

Twelve French companies will visit Egypt looking for opportunities for investment in the sugar industry, says Business France Country Director, according to local press reports.

The companies, specialized in equipment for the sugar industry and services, will visit the country for a few days to discuss cooperation opportunities for investment with the public and private sectors in the sugar industry in Egypt.

President of Sugar Crops Council Abdel Wahab Allam said to the press that these investments will help modernizing sugar factories and to reduce the cost of producing sugar beet in the country.

Egypt produces 2.6 million tons os sugar per year, 1.3 million tonnes from sugar beet and 1.1 million tons from sugar cane
