First 2nd generation ethanol plant in Brazil on the way


The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) announced the approval of funds for the first plant for second generation ethanol in Brazil. The Dutch multinational DSM project in partnership with the Institute for Technological Research (IPT), will use sugar cane to produce succinic acid, a raw material for various chemicals derived from petroleum, including, adipic acid.

Although the BNDES did not disclosure the value , sources believe it can be close to R$ 8 million. The company also studies the construction of a commercial plant in the future.
