Biofuel startup Edeniq has commenced the construction of bagasse based demonstration scale plant at Usina Vale’s cane sugar-ethanol plant in São Paulo State, Brazil.
Edeniq’s proprietary technology will be used to produce cellulosic sugars from bagasse for subsequent conversion into ethanol. The plant, expected to be open in the middle of next year, will handle up to 20 tons per day of bagasse. This is a step up from the fully integrated two-ton per day pilot plant in California that Edeniq operates. One goal of the project is to demonstrate how sugarcane mills can economically increase ethanol production with Edeniq’s bolt-on technologies.
