Brookfield expands presence in cogeneration
Brookfield increases its firepower in the cogeneration market of electricity from biomass.
According to sources of cogeneration sector heard by JornalCana Portal, the company, which is controlled by Brookfield Asset Management Inc., the largest alternative asset manager in Canada, it would have built 100% control of two thermoelectric.
The two thermoelectric which, according to sources, are now 100% controlled by Canadian belonged until then to Energisa S.A.
At the end of 2014, Brookfield would have invested approximately R$ 1,4 billion in the acquisition of renewable energy business of Energisa.
Within this package, it was included cogeneration division of sugarcane group Tonon Bioenergia, which disposed of the business, in two stages, to reduce its debt.
The thermoelectric concerned works attached to Tonon units located in Bocaina (SP) and Maracaju (MS), respectively to Santa Cândida and Vista Alegre.
In its institutional website, Tonon Bioenergia informs that its three thermal (the third is Paraíso in the city of São Paulo, Brotas) generate 375 MWh per crop.
