Brazilian Government discusses creation of biofuel fund

The Brazilian federal government is studying the creation of a fund for the automotive sector to be financed with taxation of cars that do not use biofuels. The announcement was made recently by Minister of Science and Technology, Mercadante.

According to research conducted by the Innovation Unicamp, in the opinion of a specialist, new initiatives to stimulate research and development (R & D) in the auto sector are most important to the national environment for innovation than even the creation of a carmaker capital national.

“The greatest opportunity for Brazil in the auto industry is in ethanol and in the improvement of bi-fuel car,” explained Innovation, Professor Sergio de Queiroz, Department of Science and Technology Policy (DPCT) Institute of Geosciences (IG) at the University Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP).
