Brazil needs new investments in milling capacity

Brazil needs new investment to expand cane milling capacity to match the significant rise in cane output, industry representatives told Reuters. In the article, they warn that in two years, sugar factories will not be able to process all the cane that is produced.

Following the credit crunch in 2008, new investments in increasing processing capacity have simply dried up. This has not been helped by the fact this was accentuated by a period of low profit margins from ethanol, which did not attract new capital.
