Angola setting up sugar-ethanol-cogen project in 2021

Angolan bioenergy company Companhia de Bioenergia de Angola (Biocom) will be producing at full capacity in 2021, according to local press reports.

Biocom will operate at full capacity producing 256,000 tons of sugar and 28,000 cubic metres of ethanol. Its cogen unit at the factory has the capacity to produce 235,000 megawatts of power per year to supply the municipality of Cacuso and Malanje city, in the northern Malanje Province.

According to International Sugar Organization, Angola produced 40,000 t sugar in 2014, and consumed 313,700 tonnes.
