2012/13 Russian beet processing season started with record yields

The Russian Sugar Producers Union said that beet processing began on July 26 at the Gulkevichesky sugar factory in Krasnodar region.

It was the first time that processing at the plant began that early in its 100-year history.

Russia’s fourth sugar beet test for 2012, carried out on August 1, confirmed expectations for record sugar yields as the crop put on more weight and sugar content.

The root weight reached 352 grams, up from 306 at this time in last year’s record crop, while the sugar content is up at 13.2% from last year’s 12.5%.
